Small Business Website Design Services That Bring in Real Enquiries
If you run a local business, whether you’re a plumber, a tradesperson, a shop owner, a cafe owner or a sole trader, your website needs to do one thing above everything else. It needs to get you found by the right people, in the right area, and make it easy for them to get in touch, it needs to get you found locally.
That’s exactly what I build.
It’s Not Just About Looking Good
A lot of small business website design services stops at making something that looks presentable, and while that matters, a good looking website that nobody finds, or that’s a nightmare to use on a phone, isn’t doing your business any favours.
Most people searching for a local tradesperson, a nearby café or a trusted local service are on their phone. They want to find someone quickly, see that they look like the right fit and contact them without any hassle. If your website is slow to load, hard to navigate on a small screen, or buries your phone number three scrolls down, they will move on to the next result before you even knew they were there.
I build websites for local businesses that are fast, mobile-first and structured from the ground up to show up in local searches. Not as an afterthought. From the very start.
What is a Smart Website?
A smart website isn’t a complicated thing. It’s a website that works the way your customers actually use it and works hard to make sure they find you in the first place.
For a local business, that means a site that loads quickly on any device, that’s built with local search in mind, that makes it simple for a visitor to call, book or enquire and that says clearly who you are, where you work and what you do. No clutter, no confusion, just a website that quietly gets on with the job of bringing you enquiries while you get on with yours.
Built for Local Businesses and Tradespeople
I work with businesses just like yours every day. Plumbers, kitchen fitters, cleaners, café owners, retailers, sole traders, people who are brilliant at what they do and just need their website to reflect that and bring in the right customers.
My husband runs a local kitchen fitting business. I built his website and within a few months it was on the first page of Google for local searches. The enquiries started coming in consistently and they have kept coming. That experience is what Local Edge Marketing is built on and it’s exactly what I want for your business.
What’s Included in Every Website I Build
Every website I build comes with everything you need to get your business properly established online, nothing important left out, nothing unnecessary bolted on.
Branded Design
A design built around your business – your logo, your colours, your personality. I work with you so it is something that looks and reads and feels genuinely like you
Built on WordPress
Every site I build uses WordPress. Reliable, flexible and something you can update yourself without any technical knowledge. You stay in control of your own website.
Mobile First & Fully Responsive
Your website will work beautifully on phones, tablets and desktop computers. Given that most local searches happen on a phone, this isn’t optional, it’s essential.
Local SEO Built In From the Start
Your pages are structured correctly for local search from day one. Location references, service pages, Google Maps integration are all included – not bolted on as an afterthought.
Your Own Photos, Videos and Testimonials
If you have images of your work, your premises or your team, I’ll incorporate them into the site properly. Real images of real work build trust in a way stock photography simply can’t.
Google Maps Integration
A map on your website makes it easy for customers to find you and sends positive local signals to Google at the same time, all great for Local SEO.
Contact Form Setup
A properly configured contact form makes it simple for potential customers to get in touch directly from your site, no friction, no barriers. Easy for customers to engage with you.
Analytics Setup
I set up the tools you need to understand how your website is performing – how many people are visiting, where they are coming from and how they are finding you.
Social Media Integration
Your social media profiles are connected to your website so visitors can find you across platforms without having to go looking, boosting your online presence.
SSL Certification
Your website will be secure*. SSL certification protects your business and your visitors and it’s a factor Google takes into account when ranking websites.
GDPR Compliant & Policy Templates
Your site will be legally compliant from launch, with the cookie policy, privacy policy and terms and conditions you need already in place, ensuring both trust and compliance.
Ongoing Support
My support does not end when your site goes live. I am here for updates, questions and anything else you need going forward. I work with you to get your business noticed locally.
*SSL Certification requires your website to be hosted with us, it is part of our hosting package.
How The Small Business Website Design Service Process Works
If you have never had a website built before or you have had one built and been let down, it helps to know what to expect. Here’s how I work.
1. Discovery
It starts with a conversation where I take the time to understand your business, your goals, your customers and what you want your website to achieve. There’s no rushing this part, getting it right at the start saves a lot of time later.
2. Design and Development
I create a website that captures the essence of your business and reflects your brand properly.
3. Optimisation
Local SEO foundations are integrated, making sure Google understands what your business does, where you operate and who you serve.
4. Testing
I test the website thoroughly across devices and browsers to make sure everything works exactly as it should.
5. Launch
When we are both happy, the site goes live.
6. Ongoing Support
My support doesn’t end at launch. I’m here for updates, questions and any assistance you need going forward.
Every Business is Different – So is Every Website I Build
I don’t work from a fixed menu of packages and I don’t believe one size fits all when it comes to small business website design. A sole trader who needs a clean, simple one-page site to get found locally has very different needs to a tradesperson covering multiple areas who wants to rank in several towns, or a retail business that needs booking or enquiry functionality built in.
What I do instead is listen. I’ll take the time to understand your business, where you are now, what you are trying to achieve and what’s realistic and then put something together that actually fits. No unnecessary extras, nothing you don’t need and nothing that’s going to sit there looking good but doing nothing.
What stays the same every time is the goal. I want your website to get you found by local customers, make a great first impression and make it as easy as possible for people to call, book or get in touch. Whether you are just starting out or replacing something that’s never really worked, that’s what I’m here for.
I genuinely love working with local businesses. Seeing a plumber start getting consistent enquiries from Google, or a local café owner tell me people are finding them online for the first time, that’s what this is all about for me. More local leads, more bookings, more customers through the door. That’s the whole point.
If you would like to find out what’s possible for your business, let’s have a chat. No obligation, no pressure, just a conversation about where you are and where you want to be.
Frequently Asked Questions About My Small Business Website Design Services
What do you build websites with?
I build every website on WordPress. I use WordPress because it’s reliable, flexible and importantly, something you can manage yourself without any technical knowledge if you so wish. It’s the right platform for a local business that wants a website that lasts.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a content management system, essentially the engine that powers your website. It lets you log in and make changes to your content, add new pages, update your services and keep things current without needing a developer every time something needs updating.
Can I make changes to my website myself?
Yes, absolutely. I build every site with ease of use in mind. If you want to update your opening hours, add a new photo or change some text, you can do that yourself without any technical expertise… and if you ever get stuck, I’m here to help.
How long does it take to build a website for a small business?
It varies depending on how many pages you need and the complexity of what’s involved, but I work to turn things around as efficiently as possible without cutting corners. I will give you a realistic timescale at the start of the project.
How many pages do I need?
That depends on your business. Some local businesses do very well with a clean, focused one-page site. Others need separate pages for different services or locations. I will recommend the right structure for your business during our initial chat.
Do small business websites need SEO?
Yes and for local businesses, it’s often what separates a website that generates enquiries from one that just sits there. When someone nearby searches for the service you offer, you want to show up. Good website structure, the right keywords in the right places and accurate local signals all contribute to that. The foundation is built into every site I create, and if you want to go further, I can help with that too.
Do you do SEO on my website when you build it?
Yes. Every website I build includes local SEO foundations as standard, proper page titles, meta descriptions, structured headings, location references and Google Maps integration. These are not add-ons, they are part of how I build every site from the start. If you want to go further with ongoing local SEO work, I offer that as a separate service.
Who hosts the website?
You have flexibility here. I can provide hosting specifically set up for small business websites, which is the option most of my clients go with. If you already have a hosting provider you are happy with, I can work with that too.
I’m not sure what I need, can you help me figure it out?
That’s exactly what the initial chat is for. You don’t need to know what you want before you speak to me. Tell me about your business, where you are now and what you are hoping for and I will help you work out what makes sense
I already have a domain name, can I use it?
Yes, absolutely. I will make sure your existing domain is configured to work with your new site without any disruption.
