GBP Management (Google Business Profile)

GBP Management That Gets Your Business Found on Google

When someone in your area searches for what you do, one of the first things they see is a map. Three businesses show up. If yours isn’t one of them, that customer is almost certainly going to call someone else.

That map and the listings that appear on it, is powered by something called a Google Business Profile. Whether it’s working hard for your business or quietly letting enquiries slip through the cracks comes down to how well it’s set up and looked after.

Your Google Business Profile is More Important Than Most People Realise

Think about how you find a local business yourself. You probably type something into Google, glance at the map, look at who comes up and check a few reviews before deciding who to call. Your customers are doing exactly the same thing when they are looking for someone like you.

A Google Business Profile is your listing on Google Maps and in local search results. It shows your business name, where you are, what you do, your opening hours, your phone number, photos of your work and what your customers say about you. Done well, it’s one of the most powerful free tools available to a local business. Left incomplete or set up incorrectly, it can make you invisible, or worse, show the wrong information to someone who was ready to get in touch.

Where Are You Actually Showing Up?

This is the question most local business owners have never been able to answer properly and it’s the first thing I look at.

When I take on a new client, I map out exactly where their business is currently showing up in Google search and on Google Maps for their key services and locations. Not just a single position, but across the whole area they work in, because how you rank on one street can be completely different to how you rank two miles away. It’s detailed, visual and often eye-opening.

Once I know where you stand, I look at what your local competitors are doing. Where are they showing up that you aren’t? What are they doing on their profiles that you’re not? That analysis shapes everything that comes next.

What a Well Optimised Profile Actually Does For You

When a Google Business Profile is properly set up and actively managed, it works around the clock to put your business in front of local customers at exactly the moment they are searching for what you offer.

It helps you show up in the map results for searches in your area. It gives potential customers the right information at the right time, your phone number, opening hours, location and what you specialise in. It lets you showcase photos of your work and share updates that keep your profile active and engaging, and it sends signals to Google that your business is relevant and trustworthy, which feeds directly into how prominently you appear in local searches.

For a plumber in Spalding, a kitchen fitter in Grantham or a café owner in Peterborough, that kind of local visibility can make a very real difference to how many enquiries come in each week.

What’s Included in My GBP Management Service

Every Google Business Profile I manage is handled thoroughly and consistently. Here’s exactly what’s involved:

Claim and Verify Your Profile

If your profile hasn’t been claimed and verified, then that’s the starting point. I make sure your business is properly secured on Google before anything else. If you are already claimed and verified, you simply add me as a manager or admin to your profile and I can begin work.

Complete All Business Details Comprehensively

Every section of your profile filled in properly, not just the basics. The more complete your profile, the more confident Google is in showing it to potential customers. I review what you already have and what’s missing and complete it fully, to help Google notice and choose you.

Category Selection

Choosing the right primary and secondary categories is one of the most important and most overlooked parts of GBP optimisation. The wrong categories can hold your rankings back significantly. I research and select the categories that give you the best chance of showing up for the right searches.

Strategic Keyword Integration

The language used throughout your profile, in your business description, your services, your posts and your responses, influences how and where you appear in local searches. I make sure the right terms are woven in naturally and effectively.

Accurate Pin Placement

Your location pin on Google Maps needs to be precise. An incorrectly placed pin can confuse customers and send the wrong signals to Google. I make sure yours is exactly where it should be. It’s amazing how often I come across a misplaced pin.

Attributes and Business Features

Google offers a range of attributes that help your profile stand out and help customers make decisions. I make sure yours are accurate and complete and that we are utilising every business feature that Google Business Profile has.

Products and Services

I set up your products and services section properly, making sure what you offer is clearly described and searchable within your profile, using keywords and language that will help Google find you.

Regular Google Posts

Posting regularly to your Google Business Profile keeps it active, engaging and signals to Google that your business is current. I create and publish posts consistently on your behalf.

Photos and Visual Content

A profile with strong, relevant photos builds trust and performs better in local search. I manage your photo content to make sure your profile always looks its best.

Review Management

I monitor your reviews, respond promptly and professionally to every review, positive or negative and craft responses that reflect well on your business. The wording of review responses matters more than most people realise, done well, it contributes to your local prominence on Google.

Review Generation Strategy

Getting a consistent flow of genuine reviews is something I help you build, through the right prompts, the right timing and making it easy for happy customers to leave feedback. Reviews are a high ranking factor and having a system in place to generate regular consistent reviews is crucial.

Monthly Reporting

At the end of each month you will receive a break down of local SEO data for your business. We include tracked Google Business Profile stats, keyword positions and closest competitors, all in an easy to understand layout so you can clearly see where your business is performing locally.

How My GBP Management Works

The below gives you an idea of the way I do things, it will differ sliently depending where your profile is now and how much work is involved. One of the steps is to draw up a plan of action which will show you exactly what I do when.

1. Claim and Secure Your Profile

If your profile hasn’t been claimed and verified, that’s where we start, making sure your business is properly secured on Google.

2. Keyword Research

I research the specific terms your local customers are searching for and build those into your profile strategy from the ground up.

3. Ranking Strategy

After checking your profile, keyword research and competitor anlaysis, I will produce a ranking stratgey that will give a plan of action of what I will do over the coming months to increase your local reach.

4. Complete and Optimise

Every section of your profile is completed properly, categories, attributes, description, services, products, all optimised with the right language to help Google understand exactly what your business offers and where.

5. Add Image and Visual Content

Your logo, cover photo and a library of images that showcase your work, your premises or your team, all uploaded and positioned properly.

6. Create Google Posts

Regular posts go out to keep your profile active, your customers informed and your local prominence building – You will have the opportunity to approve post content before it goes live.

7. Ongoing Management and Reporting

From here it’s consistent ongoing work, posts, photos, review responses, monitoring and monthly reporting, all handled for you while you get on with running your business.

A Note on Access and Security

To manage your Google Business Profile on your behalf, I simply ask to be added as a manager to your account. You should never share your Google login details with anyone, including me. Adding a manager through Google’s own system keeps your account secure and means you stay in full control at all times. I will walk you through exactly how to do this, it takes about two minutes.

Every Business is Different

A sole trader working within a few miles of home has different needs to a tradesperson covering several towns and a hospitality business or retailer is different again. I will take the time to understand your business and what you are trying to achieve and put together an approach that actually fits.

I’m a certified Google Business Profile specialist, which means I’ve completed Google’s own training and assessments in managing and optimising profiles. It’s not just a piece of paper, it means you can be confident that the person looking after your profile genuinely knows what they are doing.

I genuinely love this part of what I do. Seeing a local business start appearing in that map pack, watching the enquiries follow, that’s what it’s all about.

Frequently Asked Questions About My GBP Management

What exactly as a Google Business Profile?

It’s your free listing on Google, the profile that appears on Google Maps and in local search results when someone searches for a business like yours. It shows your contact details, opening hours, location, photos, reviews and more. For a local business it’s one of the most important tools you have and most businesses aren’t using it anywhere near as well as they could be. That’s why professional GBP management services exist: to handle the strategy and ongoing work most businesses don’t have time for.

Does my business need a physical premises to have a Googel Business Profile?

No. If you work from home or travel to your customers, which covers a lot of tradespeople and service businesses, you can still have a fully optimised Google Business Profile. You simply set a service area rather than a public address. My GBP management for service area businesses handle it all.

Do I need a website to have a Google Business Profile?

No. A profile can stand alone and still bring in enquiries. That said, a website and a well managed profile working together will always perform better than either one alone.

How do you get access to my Google Business Profile?

When you sign up for GBP management, I ask to be added as a manager through Google’s own system, you keep full ownership of the account and your login details stay private. I’ll walk you through how to do it and it takes just a couple of minutes.

How many pages do I need?

That depends on your business. Some local businesses do very well with a clean, focused one-page site. Others need separate pages for different services or locations. I will recommend the right structure for your business during our initial chat.

Who creates the content for posts and images as part of the GBP Management service?

I do. I create the posts and manage the visual content on your behalf, in line with your business and your brand. If you want to review anything before it goes out, that’s absolutely fine, just let me know and we’ll set that up.

Is a Google Business Profile free?

Creating and maintaining a Google Business Profile is free. What you are paying for with my service is the expertise, the time and the consistent ongoing management that turns a basic free listing into a properly optimised local marketing asset.

How long before I see results?

Results from GBP management vary depending on how competitive your area and service category are and what state your profile is in when we start. Some clients see improvements in local visibility within a few weeks. Building real, consistent prominence takes longer, but it compounds over time and the results tend to be lasting rather than temporary.

What does your GBP management service include?

GBP management covers everything needed to keep your profile active, optimised and working hard in local search. That includes optimising your core profile information, writing and publishing regular posts, managing your photo content, responding to reviews, monitoring for suggested edits and reporting on how your profile is performing. The goal is to make sure your profile is never left to go stale and that it’s always giving Google the right signals to rank you locally.

How does GBP management improve my local search rankings?

Google uses your Business Profile as a key signal when deciding which local businesses to show and how prominently. Consistent GBP management improves your rankings by keeping your profile complete and accurate, generating regular fresh content through posts, building review activity and ensuring every part of your listing is optimised for your service category and location. It’s not a one-off fix. it’s the ongoing activity that builds and maintains your position over time.

What’s the difference between GBP management and Google Ads?

Google Ads puts you in front of people by paying for each click. GBP management earns you visibility in the local and map results without an ongoing ad spend, it’s organic rather than paid. The two can work well together, but for many local businesses, a well-managed profile delivers strong, consistent results without the cost of running ads. GBP management builds something that compounds, ads stop the moment you stop paying.

How much does GBP management cost?

My GBP management service is offered on a monthly basis, with pricing depending on your location, industry and how competitive your area is. Rather than list a fixed price here, I’d prefer to have a quick conversation and give you an accurate figure based on your specific situation. Get in touch and I’ll come back to you promptly.
